TITLE: Be Saved || Live Saved

Greeting
1Pe 1:1 This letter is from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to God’s chosen people who are living as foreigners in the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.
1Pe 1:2 God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace.
Born Again to a Living Hope
1Pe 1:3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,
1Pe 1:4 and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
NLT —NLT

Here are four things the resurrection has unlocked and made available to us.

Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given…

1. We’ve been given - life.

NEW

Being Born Again evokes Praise!

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! —NLT

2. We’ve been given to live for.

NEW

We live in great expectation.

Being saved looks like ; Living saved looks like !

Rom 4:4 When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned.
Rom 4:5 But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.
Rom 4:6 David also spoke of this when he described the happiness of those who are declared righteous without working for it:
Rom 4:7 “Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight.
Rom 4:8 Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin.”
—NLT
Psalm 32:1-2

3. We’ve been given a in heaven

NEW

- An inheritance that is kept in heaven,
- We access it now and in the future.
- This inheritance differs from earthly inheritance, which can be lost or stolen.
- Forever settled in heaven.

His is His

Psa 119:89 Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. —NKJV
Psa 119:89 Lamedh Your eternal word, O LORD, stands firm in heaven.
Psa 119:90 Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created.
Psa 119:91 Your regulations remain true to this day, for everything serves your plans.
Psa 119:92 If your instructions hadn’t sustained me with joy, I would have died in my misery.
Psa 119:93 I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.
Psa 119:94 I am yours; rescue me! For I have worked hard at obeying your commandments.
Psa 119:95 Though the wicked hide along the way to kill me, I will quietly keep my mind on your laws.
Psa 119:96 Even perfection has its limits, but your commands have no limit.
Psa 119:97 Mem Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long.
Psa 119:98 Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide.
Psa 119:99 Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws.
Psa 119:100 I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments.
Psa 119:101 I have refused to walk on any evil path, so that I may remain obedient to your word.
Psa 119:102 I haven’t turned away from your regulations, for you have taught me well.
Psa 119:103 How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey.
Psa 119:104 Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life.
Psa 119:105 Nun Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
—NLT

4. We’ve been given for today.

  • The Future Starts Now
  • Jesus is alive, so our hope is alive - hope has a name His name is Jesus!

Jer 29:4 This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says to all the captives he has exiled to Babylon from Jerusalem:
Jer 29:5 “Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens, and eat the food they produce.
Jer 29:6 Marry and have children. Then find spouses for them so that you may have many grandchildren. Multiply! Do not dwindle away!
Jer 29:7 And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”
Jer 29:8 This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Do not let your prophets and fortune-tellers who are with you in the land of Babylon trick you. Do not listen to their dreams,
Jer 29:9 because they are telling you lies in my name. I have not sent them,” says the LORD.
Jer 29:10 This is what the LORD says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again.
Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jer 29:12 In those days when you pray, I will listen.
Jer 29:13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
Jer 29:14 I will be found by you,” says the LORD. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.”
Jer 29:15 You claim that the LORD has raised up prophets for you in Babylon.
Jer 29:16 But this is what the LORD says about the king who sits on David’s throne and all those still living here in Jerusalem—your relatives who were not exiled to Babylon. —NLT

“We cannot experience this inheritance unless we are born again. Unregenerate man does not have the capacity to enjoy this inheritance. It would be like rewarding a blind man by showing him the most beautiful sunset or taking him to an art museum”. —Guzik

John 3:3 (NLT)
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
Since God gives Himself to us now, our inheritance begins here and now.
—NLT
Psalms 16:5-6 (NLT)
5 LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.
6 The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance! —NLT

1Pe 1:3 What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for,
1Pe 1:4 including a future in heaven—and the future starts now!
