Still Breathing? God’s Not Done With You!

  1. On May 4th, we read how the Gibeonites deceived Joshua and secured a

for protection against their enemies, because Joshua failed to ask God for direction. This led to a conflict where Joshua had to face an alliance of 5 Amorite kings who opposed the Gibeonites.

  2. Joshua chapter 11 summarizes Joshua’s military campaign. Chapter 12 lists all of the kings his army defeated, wrapping up the

half of the book of Joshua.

  3. The

half of Joshua focuses on the division of the land and how it was allocated to the various tribes of Israel.

  4. The account of Caleb dates back

years to when Moses sent out 12 spies, Caleb being one of the original spies sent forth.

  5. Because of the spies’ “

” about Him, God determined that they should spend one year in the desert for each day they spent spying on the land!

  6. Obviously, this story suggests that we should not let doubt and fear

    us from achieving our goals.

  7. Unfortunately, based on the report of the 10 Mr. Negatrons, Joshua and Israel had to

until the previous generation of unbelievers had passed away before Joshua could lead the new generation into the Promised Land.

  8. Numbers states that the descendants of Anak came from a group known as the Nephilim, who are first mentioned in the book of Genesis, where it describes them as “

    of old, men of .”

  9. It is documented that when Moses dispatched the scouts into the territory, they observed the descendants of Anak remaining in the area, noting their

    , fearsome , and considerable .

  10. As we reflect on our journey, it is appropriate to acknowledge and express gratitude for the

that God has made to us, thanking Him for His faithfulness and the enablement to accomplish our goals, just as He did for Caleb!

  11. What can we learn from the story of Caleb?
    a. We’re never

    till God says we are!
    b. God has been you for today’s task your whole life.

  12. I am reassured by the knowledge that, regardless of the challenges I encounter, God has

    and me to defeat them.

11.. What can we learn from the story of Caleb?
c. It may require a significant amount of time, effort, and perseverance to achieve our goals, taking up to 45 years in some cases, to realize the

of a “God promise.”

13.. Faith

on the promises of God, before evidence of their fulfillment is seen.

14.. Sometimes promises appear instantly, without any action from us. However, oftentimes we must act in

to see the fullness of God’s promises in our lives.
