The Spiritual Gifts Vegetables/Veggie Tales
Each Gift is unique and distinct.

Radishes - Ministry Gifts
key word: SOME
Gifts of the Son

Ephesians 4:8, 11 NLT - That is why the Scriptures say, *“When he ascended to the heights, He led a crowd of captives and gave gifts (doma) to His people.” Now these are the gifts (doma) Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. *

Doma means “a present” - after Jesus ascended to the Father, He presented gifts of PEOPLE who were called and gifted to lead and train the rest of the Body of Christ. These are the PEOPLE who are gifted to be equippers of the rest of the Body of Christ.

11 And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct],

These “gifts” are NOT titles but are FUNCTIONS; “equipping” gifts – enabling the saints (believers) to do the work of ministry so that Christ’s Body on the earth (the Church) can FUNCTION as His true representative.

Purpose of the ministry gifts is clear: Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ (NLT) (Ephesians 4: 12)

Lettuce - Manifestation Gifts
AT ANY TIME/PLACE as the Holy Spirit determines
Gifts of the Spirit

1 Corinthians 12:7-10 7 But to each one is given the manifestation (phanerosis) of the Spirit [the spiritual illumination and the enabling of the Holy Spirit] for the common good. 8 To one is given through the [Holy] Spirit [the power to speak] the message of wisdom, and to another [the power to express] the word of knowledge and understanding according to the same Spirit; 9 to another [wonder-working] faith [is given] by the same [Holy] Spirit, and to another the [extraordinary] gifts of healings by the one Spirit; 10 and to another the working of [a]miracles, and to another prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people], and to another discernment of spirits [the ability to distinguish sound, godly doctrine from the deceptive doctrine of man-made religions and cults], to another various kinds of [unknown] tongues, and to another interpretation of tongues.

The concept is like a WATER PIPE through which water flows from a source, through the pipe and to the person who takes a drink. The pipe is not the recipient of the water – but only the CONDUIT. The person who drinks the water is the recipient.

Paul defined these as supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit at work through a believer. These gifts are NOT the possession of the person. No one can dictate when the gift is to be operated: the Holy Spirit is the Source and the One in charge of the fit, working through an available and expectant vessel.

So… “let-us” regularly, ongoingly, wherever we may be…. Avail ourselves to being the pipeline for the Holy Spirit to FLOW THROUGH us

Green Pepper - Motivational Gifts
Gifts of the Father

1 Peter 4:10 Just as each one of you has received a special gift (charisma) [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor].

Romans 12:6-8 6 Since we have gifts (charisma) that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them accordingly: if [someone has the gift of] prophecy, [let him speak a new message from God to His people] in proportion to the faith possessed; 7 if service, in the act of serving; or he who teaches, in the act of teaching; 8 or he who encourages, in the act of encouragement; he who gives, with generosity; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy [in caring for others], with cheerfulness.

These are the gifts that we possess – these are the gifts that God has built into us and made part of us to be used for the benefit of others

Key verse: Romans 12:6

Having then gifts (charismata) differing according to the grace (charin) that is given to us,
