Scriptures: Matthew 1:1-2, Genesis 37:3–5, 23-27; 38:24-26; 44:16

The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, Matthew 1:1-2 (ESV)

1.- Behind every

[Genesis 37:3-5; 23-27]

Now Israel loved Joseph more than any other of his sons, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a robe of many colors. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peacefully to him. Now Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers they hated him even more. Genesis 37:3-5 (ESV)

So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe, the robe of many colors that he wore. And they took him and threw him into a pit. The pit was empty; there was no water in it. Then they sat down to eat. And looking up they saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead, with their camels bearing gum, balm, and myrrh, on their way to carry it down to Egypt. Then Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is it if we kill our brother and conceal his blood? Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother, our own flesh.” And his brothers listened to him. Genesis 37:23-27 (ESV)

About three months later, Judah was told, “Tamar, your daughter-in-law, has acted like a prostitute. And now, because of this, she’s pregnant.” “Bring her out, and let her be burned!” Judah demanded. Genesis 38:24 (NLT)

But as they were taking her out to kill her, she sent this message to her father-in-law: “The man who owns these things made me pregnant. Look closely. Whose seal and cord and walking stick are these?” Judah recognized them immediately and said, “She is more righteous than I am, because I didn’t arrange for her to marry my son Shelah.” And Judah never slept with Tamar again. Genesis 38:25-26 (NLT)

3.- Behind every

revealed, somebody’s coming ( … when we have to!)

And Judah said, “What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? Or how can we clear ourselves? God has found out the guilt of your servants; Genesis 44:16 (ESV)

“I can’t break my father’s heart. Keep me as your slave and send Benjamin home.” Genesis 44:33

“Judah, through you will rise up a king, and all your brothers and their descendants will bow to him.” Genesis 49

4.- Behind every

, there’s a grace-filled .

“You are prime candidates for My grace. You are candidates to be mightily used by Me. There is no need to hide from me. I already know.”

“But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;” 1 Corinthians 1:27 (ESV)
