- Matthew 27:57-62 NLT
[57] As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus, [58] went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. And Pilate issued an order to release it to him. [59] Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long sheet of clean linen cloth. [60] He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance and left. [61] Both Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting across from the tomb and watching. [62] The next day, on the Sabbath, the leading priests and Pharisees went to see Pilate.
The Guard at the Tomb
Matthew 27:63-64 NIV
[63] “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ [64] So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”Matthew 27:65-66 NLT
[65] Pilate replied, “Take guards and secure it the best you can.” [66] So they sealed the tomb and posted guards to protect it.Matthew 28:1-4 NLT
[1] Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb. [2] Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. [3] His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. [6] He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.

THE SEVEN STATEMENTS JESUS MADE FROM THE CROSS:
“I THIRST”
John 19:28 NKJV
[28] After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”Hebrews 4:15 NIV

[46] And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
As painful as the physical torture was, many believe this was the most painful moment.The moment that Jesus experienced the weight of the sin.

Jesus didn’t come and give His life to build an organization, congregation, or denomination, he came to rescue sons and daughters back into His royal family.
