Luke 19:41-48

1. The Passion Week Revealed the Heart of Jesus. (Vs. 41-43, Luke 19:10, 2 Pet 3:9)

Luke 19:10, ““Today salvation has come to this house,” Jesus told him, “because he too is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.””

2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.”

2. The Passion Week Revealed the Heart of Jesus. (Vs. 44, 2 Cor 5:9-11)

2 Corinthians 5:9-11, “Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to him [the Lord]. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. Therefore, since we know the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade people.”

3. The Passion Week Revealed the Heart of Jesus. (Vs. 45-46, 1 John 4:9, Ezek 18:30-32)

1 John 4:9, “God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him.”

Ezekiel 18:30-32, ““Therefore, house of Israel, I will judge each one of you according to his ways.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD. “Repent and turn from all your rebellious acts, so they will not become a sinful stumbling block to you. Throw off all the transgressions you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, house of Israel? For I take no pleasure in anyone’s death.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD. “So repent and live!””

4. The Passion Week Revealed the Heart of Jesus. (Vs. 47-48, Matt 26:55, Ezek 18:23, 1 John 2:1-2, 1 Cor 7:23)

Matthew 26:55, “At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs, as if I were a criminal, to capture me? Every day I used to sit, teaching in the temple, and you didn’t arrest me.”

Ezekiel 18:23, “Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked?” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD. “Instead, don’t I take pleasure when he turns from his ways and lives?”

1 John 2:1-2, “My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ the righteous one. He himself is the atoning sacrifice, for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.”

1 Corinthians 7:23, “You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of people.”
