Jonah is called to go, he runs away, the Lord sends a storm, Jonah gets thrown out of the boat into a big fish (Jonah 1:1-17)
Just as The Lord commissioned Jonah to get up & go, the Lord commissions us to get up & go.
(Matt. 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16)We, like Jonah, are tempted to run from the Lord’s commission
(1 Cor. 3:6-7)God uses the storms and whales to prepare us for His commission.
Jonah ultimately points us to Christ (Matt. 12:38-40)

Read the first chapter of Jonah. What stands out to you as interesting or surprising?
Pastor Josh talked about how just like God called Jonah to “get up and go” he also calls Christians to “get up and go” on God’s mission. In what way (or to whom) might God be calling you to live an everyday life of mission for Him?
Jonah flat out ran away went God told him to go. When you read what the Bible says about Christians preaching the gospel and making disciples, what hesitations, anxieties, or excuses rise up in you?
