Jonah 3:1-2
Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a

time: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.”

Aren’t you glad our God is a God of Second Chances?

Psalm 139:1-5

You have

me, Lord,
    and you  me.

You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.

You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue
    you, Lord, know it .

You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.

Why do we say NO to God?

We don’t

Him
We don’t Him
We don’t think He is us

1 John 4:8
…God is love.

Genesis 2:16-17
“You are

to eat from tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Genesis 3:1
“Did God really say, ‘You must

eat from any tree in the garden’?”

Do we God? Look at where we’re saying ‘no’.

John 15:15
I no longer call you

, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you , for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Psalm 89:6-8
For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord? Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings? In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him. Who is like you, Lord God Almighty? You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Revelation 4:2-8
2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. 4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. 6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’
who was, and is, and is to come.”

Jonah 3:3
Jonah

the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh.

Jonah 3:4-5
Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”

The Ninevites

God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.

What if it feels like God is not for us?
1. Press into the other two—Trust, Believe
2. Be Honest with God
3. Be Patient
4. Remember the Cross
