Focus Scripture:

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. —Ezekiel 36:26-27 (ESV)

Tiers 2-3 Questions

  1. Why did people put Jeremiah in a well or cistern?

  2. Who did God send to save Jeremiah?

  3. What message did God tell the king through Jeremiah? (see Jeremiah 38: 17-18)

  4. What things did Nebuzaradan destroy with fire? (2 Kings 25:9)

    • Who did he leave in the land to work the vineyards? (2 Kings 25:12)

Application

  1. Jeremiah’s message from God (leave the city) seemed opposite of what people expected (stay and fight). How can you discern if God is telling you something that seems opposite of what you would do?

  2. Think about how people suffer under leadership that disobeys God. Pray for the leaders that make choices in your home, community, nation, and world.
