WEEK 6: WHEN YOU FALL
In John 21 we find Peter back where Jesus found him three years before: In a boat on the Sea of Galilee after an unsuccessful night fishing.
The Risen Jesus has a message for Peter––and you:
1. I still
“Now come and have some breakfast!” Jesus said… Then Jesus served them… John 21: 12,13a
2. I still
Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?” (x3) John 21:15-17
3. I still have a
“Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said. (x3) John 21:15-17)
“…when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don’t want to go.” Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him, “Follow me.” John 21:18-19
“Follow” implies
You are not doomed to the same
You will learn to stay
Just keep
Peter asked Jesus, “What about him, Lord?” Jesus replied, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me.” John 21:21-22
