Ice breaker:
Have you ever bought something that didn’t live up to the hype?
Passage:
Luke 23:32-43
Discussion Questions:
1) Did anything stick out to you from the message, or did you have any questions?
2) What did you think of the comparison of the thieves where one had pride and one was humble? How does pride hinder our connection to God?
3) Wolfgang talked about how the Holy Spirit brings conviction, but the devil tries to trap us in shame. Have you ever seen this dynamic play out in your life? What does a life trapped by shame look like?
4) Wolfgang said if we confess our sins God will forgive us of them. Why do we struggle to believe that?
5) Wolfgang said, “you are not what you have done, you are who God says you are” and that “sin is an event; not a person.” How do those statements strike you? Do you struggle to believe them? What does it show us about how God thinks about us?
6) Wolfgang said, “you cannot change your past, but Jesus can change your future.” How do you think Jesus wants to change your future? Are there any actions he’s calling you to, so that he can change your future (repentance, a spiritual discipline, forgiveness, etc.)
