1 John (Part 3): Do Not Love The World

1 John 2:15-17

The “world” here is not 1) Creation, 2) People but rather 3) The world that stands in opposition to God. (1 John 2:15, John 1:10, John 3:16, John 15:18-19)

Be on guard against:
1) The lust of the flesh (1 John 2:16, James 4:1-4, Romans 7:17-19, Galatians 5:14-17)

2) The lust of the eyes (2 Sam. 11:2, Job 31:1)

3) The pride in one’s possessions

The world with its lust is passing away, but the one who does the will of God remains forever. (Hebrews 6:10, 1 John 2:14, 1 John 2:1-2)
