We know more today than we have ever known… But does it mean where wiser or more discerning?

Knowledge: facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject.

Wisdom: Is the foundational to godly discernment. It involves the ability to apply knowledge and experience effectively to make sound judgments.

Discernment: the ability to judge well. It’s having keen insight or understanding, especially when it comes to making decisions or judgments that require careful consideration of various factors.

Having godly discernment:
• Spiritual Awareness: Being attuned to spiritual truths and principles through the Scriptures, prayer, meditation, to deepen our relationship with God.
• Humility: Recognizing our limitations and submitting to God’s wisdom rather than relying solely on one’s own understanding.
• Discipline: Cultivating habits and practices that promote spiritual growth and discernment.
• Faith: Trusting in God’s guidance and believing in His wisdom and goodness, even when circumstances or choices seem unclear.

John 7:24 Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.’

Philippians 1:9-11 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ–to the glory and praise of God.

Spirit Discernment:

Developing Sensitivity To God’s Spirit.

John 16:7-15 It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you… ’I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Romans 8:26-27 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you..

Learn to know the voice of God

1 Corinthians 2:10-16 Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit within? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words… ’Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christs
