Week 3: Deuteronomy 6:1-9 (Various Passages) Mother’s Day

May 5- May 11

Overview: A special day in May has been set aside to honor and appreciate mothers and the impact they have on our lives. Whether it’s a biological mother, an adoptive mother, a mentor, or a spiritual figure, many of us have been shaped by the love, wisdom, and guidance of those who have nurtured us. The influence of a mother or motherly figure can shape our character, development, and faith in profound ways. God, our Creator, designed motherhood as a calling to guide and nurture the next generation. His desire is for mothers to help their children grow in faith, resist the pull of worldly distractions, and develop a heart that reflects His. She fulfills this calling best when she is fully dependent on God, trusting Him to provide strength and guidance in motherhood. A powerful biblical example of this kind of faith-filled influence is found in Timothy’s mother, Eunice, and his grandmother, Lois. Both women had “sincere faith” before passing it on to Timothy. As Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3:14-17:

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
