Living with the Peace of God!
John 14:25-31
“25 These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you. ’If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, 31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.” (John 14:25-31, ESV)
Jesus teaches that He is the source of true peace!
“27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you.”
“1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider Him who endured from sinners such hostility against Himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.” (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Jesus teaches that Christians must pursue His promise of peace!
“27 My peace I give to you….. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”
“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)
“Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.” (Psalm 34:14)
Rely on and trust in the Holy Spirit!
Surrender Your Anxieties!
“…casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7)
Focus on Gratitude!
“…be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5:18b-20)
