Empowered by the Holy Spirit

Pastor Will Fillingham

16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. -John 14: 16-17

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” -Acts 1:8

“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant (uninformed).” -1 Corinthians 12:1

Understanding the Holy Spirit:

“Para”
• He abides

of the Holy Spirit.

“En”
• He abides

of the Holy Spirit.

“Epi”
• He abides

or us.
of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit works in a progressive manner:
·Until He is “with us,” He cannot be “within us,” and until He is within us, He cannot come “upon us!”
·Once the progression is complete, the Holy Spirit can now release

into our lives! Acts 1:8
·There is a purpose for the power; to live lives or as witnesses.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives,
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set free those who are oppressed,
19 To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
-Luke 4:18-19

The “Epi” or “Empowerment” of the Holy Spirit gave Jesus (and us) the ability to:

salvation to the lost.
• Walk with those in sin, away from their and lifestyles.
• Help the “mentally blind” to see.
• Help those with shattered lives find their or in life!

There’s no force more powerful than a church full of Spirit-filled believers!! -Todd Millikan
