Resurrection Hope:
Holy Week and all of redemptive history hinge on the reliability of the resurrection. Believing that Jesus defeated death awakens the unstoppable power of resurrection hope.

With life’s numerous challenges and critics, knowing why you can have hope in the resurrection is crucial.

Resurrection Accounts: Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20

1 Hope because God
John 20: 1-4 / ESV, Now the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.” 3 Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. 4 So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.”

Ephesians 1:7 / ESV, “In Christ we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.”

2 Hope because Jesus isn’t
John 20:5-7 / ESV, “And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself.”

Philippians 1:6 / NASB, “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.”

Revelation 3:11 / ESV, “I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.”

3 Hope because we can have beyond the grave
John 20:8-10 / ESV, Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed. 9 For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. 10 Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.

John 16:33 / NASB, “These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
