What if we stopped assuming the people in our day were there by random accident? —-
Prayer Challenge: Would you pray this prayer every day?
God, our heavenly Father, thank you for being with us today.
We know that you may need to do something in us before you do something through. We give you our hearts today.
Help us to see people as Jesus saw people.
We want to stop assuming that the people in our day are there by random accident.
Put me in close proximity to one person who needs you today. Place people in my heart.
May your Holy Spirit grant us wisdom, compassion, courage, and discernment.
Help us to be like you, changing the world, one at a time. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Discussion / Reflection Questions:
Start with kids in the group and ask them how your group can pray for them. Then pray for them as a group.
What’s been happening before we get to Mark 5? Now read vs. 1-20 or have someone summarize.
Give everyone 5 minutes to write out their answers to as many of the questions below as they can.
- Does anyone have a story of being in a super creepy place?
- If you were one of the disciples, what would you have been thinking?
- Describe the demoniac. Have you ever known someone you thought could never be saved?
- What might “going to the other side” look like for you?
Review the 4 lessons for this story. Which one do you need to really take to heart?
There’s a larger story at play here. Discuss the significance of:
- The Jews considered the Gentiles to be pigs.
- The demoniac was unclothed with torn skin in the tombs.
- The demoniac was chained, shackled, locked in sin.
Close with the Prayer we’ve been saying each week.
