Taking it Further to Help You THRIVE…

  1. Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

2. The first point of the lesson said, “Belshazzar did not value the things God made holy.” What are some other Biblical examples of people that did not value things God made holy? Can you think of times when you did not value something in your life that God made holy? (Luke 11:42)

3. When the Bible says something is “holy,” what does that mean? Besides the “holy” things mentioned in the sermon, what are some other Biblical examples of something God considers holy? (Exodus 3:5, Matthew 4:5, Matthew 7:6, Mark 1:8, Mark 1:24, Mark 3:38, Luke 1:35, Luke 1:70, Luke 1:72, Romans 1:2, Romans 7:12, Romans 11:16)

4. The Bible speaks of our bodies being the temple of the Holy Spirit, and that we are a “Holy” priesthood. How would you explain to an unbeliever the idea that we (our bodies) are “holy?”

5. The Bible clearly talks about the sanctity of marriage being holy. In practical terms, what does that mean to you? How does the idea that marriage is holy make a difference in your daily life? God set up the pattern of marriage as model to help us understand the relationship of the church and Jesus. What does that look like to you?

6. What does the idea that sex is holy mean to you? Does the idea that God considers sex as being holy make you feel uncomfortable? Why or why not?
