Peace of Mind: When Fear Knocks, Faith Answers
Message Notes – Psalm 91

Intro Thoughts
Fear is a normal human emotion, but when it exceeds healthy levels, it can grip our hearts and shape our lives.
God doesn’t want us to live stuck in fear—Psalm 91 shows us what it looks like to trust in God’s presence and protection.

The Assurance of God’s Protection (Psalm 91:1–2)
V1 – Speaks of an abiding, intimate relationship with God.
V2 – Fear-fighting power comes when we declare our trust in God, not in ourselves.
Reflection:
☐ What “shelters” do I run to when I’m afraid?
☐ Where do I need to say, “He is my refuge and fortress”?

How God Brings His Protection, Comfort, and Care (Psalm 91:3–4)
Real dangers exist, but so does real deliverance.
God is both powerful and gentle—like a mother eagle covering her young.
Reflection:
☐ What difference would it make if I believed God meets me in my fear?
☐ Am I honest with God about what scares me?

The Result of God’s Protection (Psalm 91:5–6)
“You will not fear…”
Fear shrinks when God grows bigger in our hearts and minds.
Assurance for the Believer (Psalm 91:7–8)
Chaos may be around us, but we can stand firm.
God doesn’t promise no fear—He promises His presence through it.

Repeating the Promise of Deliverance (Psalm 91:9–13)
God gives both physical and spiritual protection.
These promises are not guarantees of ease, but reminders that we are never alone.
God’s Promise and Blessing Over the One Who Loves Him (Psalm 91:14–16)
These are personal promises from God: deliverance, protection, answered prayer, presence in trouble.
Reflection:
☐ Where is fear holding me back from peace or boldness?
☐ What would change if I fully believed God is my refuge?

Final Thoughts: Fear May Knock, But Faith Answers
Fear asks, “What if?” — God answers, “Even if…”
To live in Christ is to live without fear of ultimate harm.
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” – Hebrews 13:6
