Key Passage: Romans 11:22-36
1. Read Romans 11:22-24
i. In verse 22, what are the “goodness” and “severity” of God? Is Paul speaking of individuals here or of groups? Why is the distinction important?
ii. Who are the “they” spoken of in verse 23? Why is their ability to be grafted in the Olive Tree important?
2. Read Romans 11:25-27
i. “Mystery” in this context expresses that something previously unknown is being revealed. What mystery is Paul revealing?
ii. Why is Paul revealing this mystery, and how is the principle learned in this passage applicable today?
iii. The context of verses 26-27 is the coming Tribulation. “All Israel will be saved” can be more accurately translated as “All Israel will be delivered.” Discuss how this one word can change a passage’s meaning and lead to believers’ confusion.
iv. How do 26b-27 help us understand that not all Jews will receive the Lord’s eternal salvation through Jesus?
3. Read Romans 11:28-36
i. From verse 29, what specific gifts of God are irrevocable? Why is this important?
ii. From verses 33-35, In what ways have you questioned God? In what ways have you attempted to counsel God?
iii. Discuss the truth that “God’s got all the things.” Discuss the implication of this truth in your life.
