Life Hack:
A truth which, if applied, makes your life better and makes you better at life.

Autonomy is the ability to do what I want to do, when I want to do it, with enough money to do it and enough money to get me out of trouble in case I get caught.

“We don’t get in trouble because we won’t take advice, we get in trouble because we take our own advice and our own advice is filtered through the emotions that distort our reality.”
—Andy Stanley

Our inability to see ourselves and our decisions clearly could lead us down a path we never intended to travel.

WHY
—————
WHAT

Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”
—Matthew 15:1-2

“‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.’”
—Matthew 15:8

Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand.
—Matthew 15:10

What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”
—Matthew 15:11

Peter said, “Explain the parable to us.”
—Matthew 15:15

“Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them.
—Matthew 15:16

“Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body?”
—Matthew 15:17

But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.
—Matthew 15:18

“Sometimes I say things I don’t mean…

“Sometimes I say things I don’t mean… to say… out loud…”

For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery… immorality,
—theft, false testimony, slander. Matthew 15:19

…greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy… arrogance and folly.
—Mark 7:22

These are what defile a person…
—Matthew 15:20

HEART

“I just need to follow my heart…”

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
—Proverbs 4:23

The purposes of a person’s heart are like deep water. But one who has understanding brings them out. —Proverbs 20:5

MICHAEL HYATT’S JOURNALING TEMPLATE

Break up your journaling into 3 sections: Yesterday, Now and Today.

It doesn’t have to be perfect but try answering these questions to get you started.

Yesterday
What happened yesterday?
What were my biggest wins from yesterday?
What lessons did I learn that I don’t want to forget?

Now
What am I thankful for right now?
How am I feeling right now?

Today
What did I read today? (Bible, book, etc.)
What stood out to me in my reading?
What do I want to accomplish today?
