Getting to Know Me Questions:
1. Fall is almost here, what is something you like about this season?
2. What do you remember as the most anxious thing you experienced while growing up?
Into the Bible Questions:
1. What’s something from this week’s teaching that you learned, that stood out, interesting
etc?
2. What are the every day things in your life that cause you anxiety?
3. Pastor Kirby said “Anxiety exists when the problems around me overwhelms the peace
within me.” What are your reactions/thoughts to this idea?
READ: Philippians 4:4-7
1. What does this passage say to us about how to deal with anxiety?
2. Do you have any “history” or encounters with this verse? Personal experience? Someone
saying it to you? Do you struggle with it or is it encouraging? Both? How?
3. Pastor Kirby said: “Peace exists when the praise inside you overwhelms the problems
around you.” What are your reactions/thoughts to this idea?
4. Pastor Kirby talked about ‘praise is something that is a “renewal” of what we already know
of God and re-engaging our minds and hearts.’
5. What are your reactions/thoughts to this idea? How does this sit with the idea that we
often want/need “new experiences” with God in praise?

* Recognize who God is (God is bigger than any problem we face)
* Reliance on who God is (Not ourselves)
* Resting in God (anxiety leaves when we rest in the assurance of God)
Application:
1. Which of the 3 “R’s” do I need to implement into my life?
2. Where have I let anxiety take root and steal joy in my life?
3. Carve out 10 minutes of your day to ACTIVELY pursue extinguishing anxiety by
recognizing, relying and resting in God. Write down those things that are causing anxiety
in your life – As you do, read Psalm 121 as you continue to give them to God.
