Discussion Questions: Luke 15:1-10
READ AGAIN: Luke 15:1-10
- Multiple places in the gospels we read that “sinners and tax collectors” gathered around Jesus. They flocked to Him. Why do you think these types of people flocked to Jesus instead of the “religious” people?
- What is the symbolism of the sheep that leaves the 99?
- How is God the Father like that of the shepherd to a flock?
- Why do you think we wander from the shepherd even if it means us risking being lost?
- Why do you think Jesus included the phrase, “those who do not need to repent” when He was speaking to the crowd?
- What is the significance of Jesus also including the idea of the character from each parable calling to their neighbors to rejoice?
Consider This:
- King David ends one of his longest passages in Psalms (cf. Psalm 119:176) with a confession to God that he has been like a wandering sheep. Even while David worships and glorifies God, he admits that his heart can wander and he asks that he be found again. Like David, are we asking God to seek us when we wander? Do we recognize that we have been lost before or maybe still might be lost?
- What do you need to pray and ask the shepherd for today?
