Tell Me About His Most Serious Warning

To reject the Spirit’s testimony about Jesus is to reject the only path to forgiveness.

SERMON NOTES

APPLICATION GUIDE

Discuss:
Have you ever been mistaken for someone else? What happened, and how did it make you feel?

How much more serious is it when people misidentify Jesus?

Why did the scribes accuse Jesus of being empowered by Satan, and what does this tell us about their hearts?

What do Jesus’ parables about the divided kingdom and the strong man reveal about his mission, and how do they dismantle the scribes’ logic?

What does it mean to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit? How is this sin different from other sins?

Apply:
In what ways might you (even subtly) twist the truth about Jesus today?

Where in your life do you need to trust that Jesus is stronger than what you’re facing?

Have you been resisting the Spirit’s conviction in any area?

What step of obedience or surrender is the Spirit prompting you to take?

Commit:
Spend intentional time listening for the Spirit’s conviction. Each day this week, take five minutes of quiet reflection after reading Scripture. Ask: “Lord, where am I hardening my heart?”
(Cf. Psalm 139:23-24).

Further Study:
Read Isaiah 49:24–26. How does this prophecy about God rescuing captives deepen your understanding of Jesus’ mission in Mark 3?

Compare Mark 3:22–30 with Matthew 12:22–32 and Luke 11:14–23.
What additional insights do the parallel accounts give about Jesus’ warning and the work of the Holy Spirit?
