Sermon: Teaching and Learning
Scripture: John 16:8-15
Summary: Learning and growing is a key feature of those who are truly human. This feature is the opposite of what our pride often tells us – that we are right, and we don’t need any help. In this message, Peter explains who our teachers are, what the curriculum is, and what it is like to be a learner taught by God.
For Reflection and Discussion
Read Scripture: John 16:8-15
- What was your school experience like?
- What is your immediate response to the categories of teaching and learning? Are you keen and excited about learning or does it bring back some bad memories?
- What are some expressions of teaching and learning outside of the school system?
- Read John 13:13. What are some things you have learnt from Jesus?
- What is God currently teaching you?
- How does sin affect maturity? When has it affected your maturity?
- How readily do you accept someone telling you when you are wrong?
- Read v12-13. The Holy Spirit is a guide who teaches you incrementally. How is this good news? When have you seen him operating this way in your life?
