The Gospel restores our identity, covering us with Christ’s identity.

Your greatest battle is knowing your identity. The key to overcoming temptation is know who you are in Christ. You don’t have to prove your worth. You will be happy, serving with passion and overcoming.

Your failures do not change who you are. As you know who you are in Him, you will not be intimidated but learn from any failures and be innovative.

1. Know who you are in

Luke 4:1-3
1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, 2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”

Know you are beloved and well-pleasing in Christ

Luke 3:22
… the Holy Spirit descended … like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” NKJV

Feed on your Father’s Word for you

Matt 4:4
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Cf Gen 3:11
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked?

2. You are as fully accepted as is!

Eph 1:5-6
5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. NKJV

Accepted charitoō: Grace, highly favored, honor with blessings. Strong’s

God has fully accepted and highly favored you as much as He has favored Christ!

Don’t associate your happiness with what you

Luke 4:5-7
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 So if you worship me, it will all be yours.”

Knowing your identity, you will serve with

Luke 4:8
8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’”

Cf Deut 6:13
13 Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.

Jesus got up.
Jesus took off His outer clothing,
Jesus wrapped a towel around His waist.
He poured water into a basin.
He knelt down.
He washed His disciples’ feet.
And He finished the job, He dried their feet with a towel.

Knowing your identity, you

Eph 1:7
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

Knowing who you are, you will yourself

Jas 1:18
18 By His own desire He made us His own sons through the Word (message) of truth, that we, should be His treasured possession of all creation. JY

Treasured possession: Firstfruit, first place, the best, the most important, most precious, the crown of.

3. Your value was settled years ago

John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. NKJV

Don’t link your value with what you

Luke 4:9-12
The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; 11 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” 12 Jesus answered, “It says: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Your failures do not who you are

He sees you as you are.
He loves you as you are.
He calls you as you are.
He won’t leave you as you are.

Secure in who you are, you won’t be of failures

  1. If you are insecure, you will be very defensive over your weakness
  2. Secure, you see failures as an education.
  3. If you have no failures, you are not trying new things

Declare this every day with expectation:

I am a new creation and a child of the Most High God, a masterpiece redeemed and created in Christ Jesus.
My new genes are greater than the old genes. I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me.
I am a seed of Abraham and I have a champion bloodline. I am destined for great things, an heir of the promise and heir of the world, blessed to be a blessing, shining like stars forever.
In Christ, I have every gift of grace needed to live a superabundant life.
I will not be stuck and be sour in life because of any setbacks. He is always behind the scenes arranging things in my favor, fighting the battles for me, and lining up great connections, opportunities and breakthroughs for me.
The greatest power of the universe is breathing in my direction. He is my Savior, defender, shelter, victory, and honor.
