Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)

The importance of choosing Jesus …

I. Learning from those who

Jesus.

1 . Jesus will give us

to choose him.

Mark 6:1-2 Jesus left there and went to his hometown accompanied by his disciples. 2 When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed.

Q: How many

will Jesus give YOU?

2 . Jesus may

those not willing to choose him.

Mark 6:3-4 “Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles! Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, 4 Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us. And they took offense at him.

Q: Has Jesus “in you” ever “

” others?

3 . Jesus can only

those who choose him.

Mark 6:5-6a He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them 6 And he was amazed at their lack of faith.

Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.

Q: Have you

Jesus’ work in your life by your lack of faith?

II. Learning from those who

Jesus.

1 . Work

.

Mark 6b-7 Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. 7 Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits.

Q: Do you have a

of Christians who know you?

2 . Be

by Jesus.

Mark 6:7 Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits. Mark 6:13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

3 . Keep it

.

Mark 6:8-9 These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff– no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra tunic.

4 . Pursue

people.

Mark 6:10-11 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them.

5 . Go

.

Mark 6:12a They went out and preached that people should repent.

6 . Preach

.

Mark 6:12b They went out and preached that people should repent. 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

Q: Are you on

for Jesus?

III. Summary…

1 . There are always consequences for

Jesus, but for those who accept and to him.

Joshua 24:15 “… choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

2 . We have a choice to make today! Let’s choose
