From Selfishness to Selflessness

Luke 19:1-10

Excitement was in the air. People of the region had waited to catch a glimpse of this man about whom everyone was talking. But just to get close to him took advance planning and preparation. On this particular day, one very short guy even climbed a tree to see him when he passed by. The story of Zacchaeus the tax collector is a great story, because it’s another story of human transformation.

I. Zacchaeus wanted to get

to Jesus. (vv. 1-3)

A. People who don’t want to

don’t want to get anywhere near Jesus.

B. Zacchaeus not only wanted to

Jesus; he wanted to see he was.

II. Zacchaeus

despite obstacles. (vv. 3-6)

A. Obstacles for Zacchaeus:

  1. He was

    and couldn’t see Jesus.

    pressure.

  3. He was a greedy

    man.

III. Zacchaeus allowed Jesus into his

life.

A. Zacchaeus was not

to invite Jesus in.

B. Zacchaeus was given

by Jesus Christ.
