Series: Romans – Grasping The Gospel
Sermon Title: Part 27 – Where to Find Hope Today
Scripture: Romans 8:16-25
Speaker: Pastor Mark Pospisil
Questions:
What is Biblical hope? What would you say are the similarities between hope that is described in the New Testament, and hope that is found in this world? What would you say are the differences?
Where do we find hope today? What are we to look back on to give us hope? How does the Lord’s faithfulness in the past give us comfort for today?
What are we to look forward to that gives us hope? Check out Romans 8:28.
According to Romans 8:18-19, what has yet to happen? What do you think is “the revealing of the sons of God?”
When you read Paul’s statement in Romans 8:19 that he does not consider the sufferings of the present time worth comparing to this revealing of the sons of God, why do you think that was his feeling?
How is placing hope in Jesus Christ different from placing hope in anyone or anything else?
Looking at Romans 8:19-22, what do you think Paul has in mind when he refers to “creation” as waiting with “eager longing” and “groaning?”
In Romans 8:22-23, believers together with creation are “groaning” in anticipation of this day of the revealing of the sons of God. Why do you think Paul uses the term “groaning” to describe this waiting?
Who do you know that needs to discover for the first time—or perhaps re-discover—this hope that is found in Jesus?
