One Love
Week #1: Uniting Us
Pastor John May 11, 2025

God desires a “

” of his creation.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—  I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” — John 17:20-23

God desires the same unity for us that He has with

.

Why does divine unity among believers matter so much?

Godly unity is

.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”” — Ephesians 4:2-6

Godly unity is at the heart of .

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” — John 13:34-35

Sharing the love of God is a natural response to

his love.

“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” — Matthew 22:37-40

Galatians 5:14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor
as yourself.”

Unity requires

.

Action Steps:
1. In a contentious moment hold onto God’s love.
2. Loosen your grip on all but the love of God.
3. Bring a friend to “Uniting Us”.
