…he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead… —1 Peter 1:3b (NIV)
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. —1 Peter 1:3-4a (NIV)
13…you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again… —1 Thessalonians 4:13b-14a (NIV)
How Do I Find Hope This Easter?
1. We can lose hope.
2. Genuine hope is only found in Jesus.
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. —Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)
“I’m trying to become a better/more spiritual person, but I don’t know how.”
“I want to commit my life to Christ, but I don’t want to disrespect my family heritage.”
“I built up barriers with God when I went through this painful situation. Where was He when I was in crisis?”
“I have some knowledge about Jesus, but I don’t have a relationship with Jesus. I don’t know how to do that.”
3. Hope is contagious.
23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another… —Hebrews 10:23-25a (NIV)
