Title: Lessons From The Potter’s House
Text: Jeremiah 18:1-11

Introduction: Learning, it is something we should strive for every day. We are never too young or too old to learn. How do we learn? An unknown source says:
1% through taste
1.5% through touch
3.5% through smell
11% through hearing
83% through sight
Educators say there are numerous ways to learn. One way is listening to a lecture. Another way is to sit and read a book. A third way is simple observation. Some of the lessons of living can be learned by observation. It is erroneous to think that we can learn or obtain knowledge in just one way.
The prophet Jeremiah learned a great lesson by observation. On one occasion he visited the Potter’s House and observed a potter at work. What did he see? As Jeremiah sat down, he noticed a potter’s wheel. It consisted of two circular discs of stone connected by a vertical rod. The lower disc was larger to give it momentum as it was activated by the feet. The upper disc was lighter and was used for shaping the clay into the vessel. Jeremiah noticed that the potter picked up a large, not so large, and a small piece of clay. He watched him turn the bottom wheel with his feet, that turned the top. The potter took the smaller lump, which was void and formless and began to form a beautiful cup. He then picked up a larger lump of clay to make it into a beautiful pitcher. The potter was half finished and the side of the pitcher caved in completely! What did he do? The potter did not throw away the pitcher; he simply began to remake and work with what he had. By watching the potter, Jeremiah learned about how Jehovah worked with Israel. As the potter has power over the clay, so God has sovereign authority over the nation of Israel and all nations!
In our minds this morning, we need to visit the Potter’s House and observe his work. We can learn several lessons about the qualities of God’s character. What are they?

II. We can learn about the
