“Easter Eggs” are hidden messages or images in entertainment media that hint at connection, clarification, and prediction.
Luke 24:44 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.
There are not-so-hidden Old Testament passages that connect, clarify, and predict the coming of a
Luke 24:45-46 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead.”

Genesis 3:15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his head.

THE PAUSE: 10 MINUTES WITH GOD
MONDAY | THE HINT
PASSAGE: Genesis 3:15
PAUSE: Many theologians consider Genesis 3:15 as the first hint of the gospel. This is called “protoevangelium.” This fancy word means that God had our salvation in mind before and immediately following the fall; regardless of whether this is the first hint, the good news of Christ is found in the OT.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you that you always had a plan. Today, I praise you for your sovereignty and grace in sending Jesus Christ to save me.
TUESDAY | THE HOPE OF FREEDOM
PASSAGE: Romans 8:20-21
PAUSE: The Apostle Paul had hope during his suffering. His hope was based upon the promises of the prophets and the law that the Messiah would return and establish a New Heaven and New Earth. This hope was tied to the truth that we all will be free from all pain, heartache, and suffering in the future!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I love that you are the God of hope and encouragement. Life is challenging because of sin, but my hope is you.
WEDNESDAY | THE GOSPEL OF THE PROPHETS
PASSAGE: Luke 24:27
PAUSE: Jesus proclaimed his words and works throughout the Prophets. Like the disciples, we sometimes fail to see or comprehend it, but it doesn’t mean Christ is not there. Perhaps our pause for the day is to slow down and meditate deeply upon chapters like Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, open my eyes when I read the Old Testament. Help me see Christ and the hope of salvation prophesied long ago!
THURSDAY | BURNING HEARTS
PASSAGE: Luke 24:32
PAUSE: Ask the Lord to allow Scripture to burn in your hearts in this new series—truths about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As we enter Lent, let us slow down and ask God to reveal himself in more profound ways.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, forgive me for my speed in life. Help me slow down and experience you in deeper and more meaningful ways this week.
FRIDAY | THE PROPHET
PASSAGE: Deuteronomy 18:18
PAUSE: As with Genesis 3:15, many theologians see Deuteronomy 18:18 as a prophecy concerning the ultimate Prophet, Jesus Christ. Regardless, Moses wanted us to discern and listen to the right prophets who spoke the truth and pointed believers toward the Messiah and the one true God. We all need to pause, determine whose voice we are listening to, and see if it is God’s.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for this series. Help me to hear and recognize your voice as you speak to me through the prophets!
