“Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Prov. 22:6


I. and in the Lord (Proverbs 1:7; 3:5-6)

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” – Prov. 1:7


“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” – Prov. 3:5-6


II. Be (Prov. 28:13)

“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” – Prov. 28:13


III. Appreciate (Prov. 13:24; 22:15; 23:13-14; 29:15, 17; 3:11-12)


“Whoever spares the rod hates his son,
but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.” – Prov. 13:24


“Folly is bound up in the heart of a child,
but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.” – Prov. 22:15


“Do not withhold discipline from a child;
if you strike him with a rod, he will not die.
If you strike him with the rod,
you will save his soul from Sheol.” – Prov. 23:13-14

“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” – Prov. 13:20
