1: HONOR IS A FAMILY VALUE
Romans 12:10 (ESV)
“Love one another with brotherly affection.”
In real families, affection IS ACTIVE, IT’S NOT PASSIVE.
2: HONOR PUSHES BACK AGAINST PRIDE
Romans 12:10b (ESV)
“Outdo one another in showing honor.”
In our world, we honor people for fame, power, or success.
But in God’s family, we honor people because they bear His image.
In a selfish world, we show Jesus by honoring without hesitation or hidden agendas.
3: UNSELFISH HONOR IS PRACTICAL
ROMANS 12:11-13 (ESV)
Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Love is the heart, but honor is the hands.
4: HONOR FLOURISHES IN EMPATHY
Romans 12:14–16
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.”
Empathy is the art of saying, “I see you, even if I don’t understand you.”
