VISION PART 3: Every Person is Important

Matthew 22:35 - 40
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Luke 10:29
29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Samuel Johnson, in his A Dictionary of the English Language (1755), defined honour as having several senses:

  • nobility of soul
  • magnanimity
  • and a scorn of meanness

HONOR COMES FROM VALUING PEOPLE…

HONOR is a GIFT WE GIVE as we HONOR THE HOLY SPIRIT inside of someone and trust HIM to work on them with HIS POWER.

We honor people - because we realize GOD MADE THEM!
They are a masterpiece - even if they are not honorable - we GIVE THEM HONOR!

Matthew 13:57 - 58
57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

One of the BIGGEST ISSUES HALTING GOD’S POWER IN OUR WORLD and our CHURCHES TODAY IS A LACK OF HONOR.

  • A DECISION TO HONOR RELEASES HEAVEN’S ATMOSPHERE.

Luke 5:17 - 20
17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

  • DECIDING TO SOW HONOR RELEASES HEAVENS ATMOSPHERE.

Pettiness = Spiteful, hateful, full of sarcasm and complaints…
~~ PETTINESS IS NOT A FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT ~~

  • IF YOU ALLOW PETTINESS IN YOUR LIFE, IT WILL
    • DISHONOR
      and
    • DISARM YOUR POWER.

Philippians 1:15 - 18 NIV
15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.
16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.
17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.
18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

Patrick believed that the culture he was in needed Jesus… NO MATTER HOW THEY TREATED HIM.

Matthew 16:24
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

  • THE CHURCH does not exist for US.
  • WE ARE the church and we exist for the WORLD!

The reason why we serve at church is because WE DO NOT JUST GO TO CHURCH,
WE ARE THE CHURCH AND WE ARE BEING USED TO CHANGE LIVES!

HONOR = ALLOWING GOD TO CHANGE HOW I

  • SEE
  • SPEAK
  • AND ACT TOWARD OTHERS

2. LET GOD’S VISION

MY INDIGNATION

INDIGNATION = anger or annoyance provoked by what is perceived as something being unfair.

ALLOW HOW GOD SEES to change the ATTITUDE you have in this moment.

WHEN YOU ARE TEMPTED TO DISHONOR SOMEONE ALLOW GOD’S HEART TO CHANGE YOURS.

Romans 12:20
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

IF YOU SAY THAT YOU ARE CALLED, ANOINTED AND RECEIVE REVELATIONS FROM GOD, BUT YOU ARE STILL MEAN AND ABUSIVE WITH WORDS AND WILL NOT HONOR OTHERS YOU ARE EITHER:

  • A LIAR
  • BEING DECEIVED by the enemy

3. LET MY SOWING LEAD TO

10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”

WHEN WE SOW HONOR - God plans on a HARVEST!

GOD CALLS YOU TO GROW THE CHURCH AS HIS CHURCH, BY SOWING HONOR INTO THOSE WHO ARE YET HONORABLE.

Honor will take you farther than skill or intelligence ever will.

TO CHANGE THE WORLD

  • Sow honor to those who seem less honorable.
  • Be ACTIVE in honorable moments.

If you live your life looking for opportunities to sow honor, instead of living your life trying to prove why you deserve subservience from others and purpose to display your power you will see the grace of God and the miraculous displayed.

  • LET GOD’S VISION FILTER MY INDIGNATION.
  • LET MY PRAYERS DROWN OUT MY PETTINESS.
  • LET MY SOWING LEAD TO GROWING!
