Mark 3:7–12—The fame and popularity of Jesus is widespread. The crowds are desperate to get to Jesus and are on the verge of crushing Him. demons continue to cry out that Jesus is the Son of God, and He continues to silence them.
Messianic secret—Jesus must keep His identity under wraps until His resurrection. If the crowds really knew who He was, they would install Him as king and would not go on to crucify Him.
Mark 3:13–19—Jesus withdraws from the masses and calls twelve men He desired to be His disciples. The twelve symbolize the twelve tribes of Israel.
Mark 3:20–35—Mark sandwiches this section regarding who Jesus is and what He is doing between two events with His earthly family.
A—His family thought He was “out of His mind” and tried to seize Jesus by force.
B—The Pharisees are spreading slanderous words about Jesus, claiming He is possessed by the prince of demons.
A’—Jesus is told that His family is waiting for Him outside, but He clarifies to His audience that His true family does the will of God the Father.
The unforgivable sin is seeing the deeds of the Holy Spirit and then claiming the devil is the one doing it.
