Current – The hidden work of a present God. Three things about this Current.

God’s current cannot be stopped.

May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. —Matthew 6:10

When we yield to God’s current, we can positively influence our present and future generations.

For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. —Romans 5:19

God’s grace and truth fulfills God’s work in yielded man.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. —Philippians 1:6

Lessons from a Great King but a junk dad: David, Absalom and Solomon (2 Samuel 11-15)

• Lack of discipline for sin. Proverbs 3:12; 13:24
• Not pursuing restoration. Matthew 18:15
• Don’t ignore rebellion. Hebrews 12:15

Fathers and mothers. There is hope! God’s current is still flowing. Therefore…

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. —Psalm 37:4-5

Sons and daughters. There is hope! God’s current is still moving forward. Therefore…

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. —Isaiah 55:6-7

Discipleship Guide

Let’s Talk About It
God’s current is always moving—unstoppable and full of grace. When we yield to Him, we can influence our present and future generations. David, though a great king, struggled as a father by failing to correct, restore, and confront. Still, God’s current brings hope. To parents: Commit your way to the Lord—He’s still working. To sons and daughters: Return to Him—His grace is waiting.

Philippians 1:6; Romans 5:18-20; Proverbs 3:12, 13:24; Psalm 34:4-5; 2 Samuel 13-15

Discussion questions:

  • Which part of the message impacted or challenged you?

  • Ready to make a public declaration of your faith and get water baptized? Register on the app for our upcoming water baptism on Sunday, June 29.

  • Read Philippians 1:6 and Romans 5:18-20. What area in your life you feel the current of God pulling you into or out of? What adjustment(s) do you need to make in your life (time, treasure, or talent) to get into God’s flow? Why do you think that tweak or adjustment is necessary?

  • Read Matthew 6:10. Where are you surrendering to God as you this quote verse? “May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”

  • Where do you find yourself a recipient of blessing because of someone aligning their direction within God’s current? Or do you feel the negative impact of someone in your life who hasn’t put themselves in the current of God?

  • Of the three points in Pastor Randy’s message, which struck you the hardest? 1. Lack of discipline for sin; 2. Not Pursuing Restoration; or 3. Don’t ignore rebellion.

Take a Step

Ask God to show you one way you can align with His current this week—whether it’s having a healing conversation, offering forgiveness, or choosing obedience in a difficult area. Trust that even small steps of surrender can impact generations.

Here’s My Prayer

God, thank You that Your current is always moving, even when I can’t see it. Help me to trust You, yield to Your leading, and walk in obedience. Use my life to bring hope and blessing to the generations after me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
