Plateaued:
When you are spiritually stuck but don’t know it
Series Theme:
There are 4 landing spots in our faith journey we tend to get stuck in.
Finding your way through those are vital to your continued growth in Christ.
TODAY:
Part 1 – Seen…but undecided.
How do I know if I am stuck at this level?
Maybe you:
- Seen enough to know God is real…but have not fully sold out on the idea of giving your life to Him
- Grew up in church BUT still undecided about certain foundational principles like: Is Jesus fully God? Is He the only way?
- Even believe in spirituality and are open to learning more…but there hasn’t been a confidence in any one way.
OR
- Are not a believer at all.
- Are a skeptic/critic of any religion.
- Are agnostic/atheist.
OR
- You believe in something, but you can’t put your finger on it… and you are simply too busy to stop and think about it.
- You know something is out there, you just aren’t fully sure what it is or how it works.
Main Idea:
If you have been watching Jesus but not yet decided on Him…He is calling to you.
To move from this level, you must commit in your heart to say, “I DO”.
Jesus said “come and see” when He called His disciples.
*
John 1:35 The next day John (the Baptist) was there again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” 37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?” They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” 39 “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon. 40 Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter [NOTE: Time with Jesus shows us who we can become]. 43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.” 44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip. 47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.” 48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.” 49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.” [NOTE: Time with Jesus shows us how great He is] 50 Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” NIV*
Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. NASB
What was the disciple’s response?
They immediately decided to follow

Matthew 4:18-22 - 18 Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of people.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets; and He called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him. NASB
Matt 9:9 As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew sitting in the tax collector’s office; and He said to him, “Follow Me!” And he got up and followed Him. NASB*
Joshua 24:15 - …choose for yourselves today whom you will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” NASB
Something happens when you draw a line in the sand and decide to go for it with Jesus
Take Away:
We have talked about WHAT God wants you to do…
But HOW do you do that?
Action step to get unstuck:
- Decide to step forward and fully embrace salvation
Deciding means acknowledging Jesus is God and the only way to the Father
John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ESV
Deciding means to lay life down as you know it and give yourself fully to following Christ
Galatians 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ESV
Main Idea:
If you have been watching Jesus but not yet decided on Him…He is calling to you.
To move from this level, you must commit in your heart to say, “I DO”.
What is the benefit of doing this?
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly. NASB
*CLOSING CHALLENGE:
If you have been watching Jesus but not yet decided on Him…He is calling to you.
Choose today whom you will serve and go for it.
