Discussion Questions

How would you describe your DAILY TIME with God?
Do you have a daily time when you go before the Lord and spend time in His presence? How long should you pray? What is the appropriate amount of time to listen for His voice? How many chapters of the Bible should you read daily? Should singing be part of your devotional time with God? Do you find yourself zoning out and not as engaged with the Lord as you know that you should be, but you push through it and check it off your list of things to do?

Why is spending TIME with God so important?
In a study conducted a few years ago, it was discovered that on average, Americans have about 40 hours of leisure time a week. About 15 hours was spent in front of the television. How do you spend your free time? Do you think about God when you are engaged in various activities throughout your day? Do you experience God’s pleasure upon you as you do the things you enjoy?

Does God need our WORSHIP?
Does an all-powerful God need anything from us? If no person ever worships the Lord, God has not lost anything. God was God—without any needs whatsoever—long before He even created us. The reason that God desires our Worship is because He desires a personal relationship with each of His children. Meditate upon how God views you and how that proves He desires to be close to us (Rev 3:20; 21:9; John 15:15; 1 Thess 3:2; 1 John 3:1; Luke 17:10).

Are you a LIVING SACRIFICE for God?
Read through these passages and ask yourself if this type of worship describes you (Rom 12:1-2; Heb 11:21; Luke 4:8; Ex 3:12; Ps 2:11). How can you wake up and the first breath that comes out of your mouth praises God for a new day? How can the last breath of your mouth every night thank God for guiding you? As you sacrifice (deny yourself) a little every day, do you notice that you desire to be more generous with your resources and that you are shining more brightly?
