biblical prosperity is growing in the knowledge of Jesus… that’s a useful life…
Josh 1:7-9… “meditate on Him… then you’ll prosper and have good success…”
Psa 77:12… “I meditate on all Your work… and talk of all Your deeds…” Prov 28:25… “those who trust in the Lord will prosper…”
Rom 10:12… “the same Lord gives generously to all who call on Him…”
Phil 3:8… “everything worthless… compared to infinite value of knowing Jesus…”
2Pet 1:3-9… “more useful you will be in your knowledge of Jesus…”
what’s that look like…
Rom 1:12… “when we get together… encourage you… be encouraged… by faith…”
1Thess 3:2… “sent Timothy… in the gospel… to strengthen and encourage you…”
1Thess 5:11… “encourage one another and build each other up…”
2Tim 4:2… “preach the word… correct, rebuke, encourage… with good teaching…”
Heb 3:13… “encourage each other daily… so no one will be hardened by sin…”
Heb 10:24-25… “encourage one another… not neglecting to gather together…”
how is all this possible… simple… you just have to know who to follow…
Gal 5:24-26… “those who belong to Christ… follow HS in every part of life…”
how can you tell if you’re following HS… feelings, supply, miracles, fruit…
Rom 7; 15… “what a miserable person I am… filled with joy and peace by HS…”
1Cor 2:12… “received Spirit… understand what was freely given to us…”
Gal 3:5… “God gives HS and works miracles… by believing what you heard…”
Gal 5:16-26… “walk by Spirit, not do what sinful nature craves… led by Spirit, not under law… works of flesh lead to every kind of sin… fruit of Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience…”
before we follow… need to understand main role of the Holy Spirit…
John 16:14… “HS will glorify Me… tell you what He receives from Me…”
doxazo… praise, magnify, celebrate; make renowned; cause worth of person to be clear…
does many, many other things… but main purpose is to point us to Jesus…
John 14:26… “the Comforter, which is the HS… will teach you all things…”
John 16:8-11… “convict world about sin, righteousness, and judgment… convince unbelievers about sin… convince you about righteousness… convince devil about judgment…”
Acts 1:8… “you will receive power when the HS comes on you…”
Rom 5:5… “God’s love has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit…”
Rom 8:26-27… “when we don’t known what to pray… Spirit intercedes for us…”
Rom 14:17… “kingdom is… righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit…”
1Cor 2:10-16… “searches everything… shares God’s thoughts… helps us understand…”
1Cor 6:11… “washed, sanctified, justified… by the Spirit of our God…”
1Cor 12:1-11… “spiritual gifts… distributed by the Spirit as He wills…”
Eph 1:13-14… “God identified you as His own by giving HS… God’s guarantee…”

HS not mentioned in Romans 1-4… but testifies to us about what Jesus did for us… must understand that… before we can see what HS does in us and follow Him…
Rom 1… “not ashamed of Gospel… power of salvation to all who believe…”
Rom 2… “goodness of God leads you to change your mind for the better…”
Rom 3… “righteousness revealed… thru faith in Jesus… justified freely by grace…”
Rom 4… “faith credited for righteousness… promise by faith, according to grace…”
Rom 5… “hope not disappoint… because God’s love… poured into hearts by HS…”
even as Christians… sometimes can feel not saved… based on looking inward at behavior… HS points us outward to what Jesus has done… testifies to that truth… testify is legal term… witness stand, under oath, can’t lie… not opinion or feeling…
2Cor 5:17-21… “in Christ, God was reconciling world… not counting sins against them…”
Heb 10:15-17… “HS testifies to us… I will never again remember their sins…”
martyreo… affirm what one has seen, heard, experienced based on divine revelation…
1John 2:1-12… “sacrifice for sins of world… forgiven on account of His name…”
how important is it to follow the Spirit… how important is life or death…
Rom 8:2… “law of the Spirit of life… set me free from law of sin and death…”
Rom 8:5-9… “mind-set of flesh is death… mind-set of Spirit is life and peace…”
Rom 8:13… “live according to flesh, you will die… by the Spirit, you will live…”
2Cor 3:9… “ministers of NC, not law, but HS… law ends in death, HS gives life…”
Gal 5:16-23… “works of flesh, every kind of sin… fruit of Spirit, love, joy…”
Gal 6:8… “sow to flesh and reap decay and death… sow to Spirit and reap life…”
thanatos: all misery arising from sin…
zoe: life real, genuine, active, vigorous, blessed…
HS wants to teach us all things… who to marry… what to buy… where to live… what church to go to… how to respond to people… what choices to make… too many people make decisions based on money or time… that’s just not wise…
John 14:26… “the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things…”
Gal 5:24-26… “those who belong to Christ… follow HS in every part of life…”
how does He lead us… how do we recognize His voice… what do we follow… well, what does HS testify to us… that Jesus did for us… that HS does in us…
Isa 30:15… “in rest you shall be victorious… trust shall be your strength…”
John 14:27… “peace I leave with you… My peace I give… not as world gives…”
1Cor 14:33… “God is not a God of disorder… but of peace…”
Heb 3-4… “unable to enter rest because of unbelief… we who believe enter rest…”
HS leads with peace and rest… can be difficult to recognize since we’re always supposed to be at peace… look at it backward… when you’re not at peace that’s a red light… stop, don’t go any farther… even if the decision seems like a good one…
Acts 16:6-7… “HS had forbidden them from preaching the word in Asia at that time… so they headed north to Bithynia… but again, the Spirit did not allow them to go there…”
all of us can get stressed… worldly stress relievers (golf, read, eat, walk) only bring temporary peace… don’t help us make godly decisions… God cares about every decision you make… wants you to follow Spirit’s lead… follow peace and rest…
Isa 43:1-2… “do not fear… I have called you by name… you are Mine…”
Zeph 3:17… “rejoice over you with gladness… delight in you with singing…”
Luke 12:6-7… “hairs of head are numbered… don’t fear… more value than birds…”
hearing voice of HS is intentional… takes time and quiet to follow Him… pray…
1Kings 19:12… “not in wind, earthquake, fire… the Lord was in gentle whisper…”
1Cor 2:13… “speak, not taught by human wisdom… but taught by the Spirit…”
