Exodus 33:12-23
12Then Moses said to the LORD, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people!’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’ 13Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You, so that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider, that this nation is Your people.” 14And He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” 15Then he said to Him, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not bring us up here. 16For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.” 17So the LORD said to Moses, “I will do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight and I know you by name.” 18And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” 19And He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” 20But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man shall see Me and live!” 21And the LORD said, “Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. 22So it shall be, while My glory is passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. 23Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.”

There are three things we really need to do before we go anywhere.

(1) We need to

from God.

(2) We must

on God.

(3) We have to have an

with God.

1. Before we go anywhere, we must hear from God. (12-14)

God will show us what

to do.

When God calls you to do a specific work, He will give you details.

Who will do the work?

After we know the work and who is going to help, we must understand that it is God’s

that accomplishes the work.

How will the work get done?

The power of the Holy Spirit working through God’s

.

2. Before we act, we should wait on God. (15-17)

If God isn’t moving -

.

When Moses stands on God’s word, look what happens.

God

when we speak forth His word.

We find

(favor) in God’s sight, through faith
God knows us by name. That implies intimacy.

3. Before we expect anything, we must experience God.

We must have a

for God.

If we have desire, God will reveal His character to us.

When you are in the presence of God, He provides a

Where do we go from here? We continue to:

Him.

Him.

His face.

Him.
