God revealed two issues in Isaiah’s life

  1. Isaiah had an AWE Problem

“How sad is it when a person looks for what cannot be found in something that cannot deliver.” —Paul David Tripp

2. Isaiah had a SIN Problem

“Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.’” —Isaiah 6:6-7

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.’” —Isaiah 6:8

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.’ And he said, ‘Go,’” —Isaiah 6:8-9

What kind of people does God use?

  • People who are willing to live fully for Him.

“Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.’” —Joshua 3:5

  • People who keep themselves available

  • People who are in sync God’s agenda.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” —Luke 4:18-19

  • People who are willingly to recklessly abandon themselves to Him.

“The world has yet to see what God will do with and for and through and in and by the man or woman who is fully consecrated to Him.” —Henry Varley

How should we respond to God’s call on our lives?

  • “Lord, I am Awe!”

  • “Lord, I have sinned!”

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” —1 John 1:9

“The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.” —Psalm 51:17

  • “Lord, my answer is yes!”
