Read Genesis 12:10
The Lord promised to give Abram the land of Canaan, but soon after they arrived, there was a famine. Why do you think this famine is significant for Abram’s life? Why does Abram leave?
Read Genesis 12:11-16
What is Abram’s plan as they go to Egypt? Why would he do this? How have you seen fear shape your decisions and conversations with people?
Read Genesis 12:17-20
What happens in Pharaoh’s household? Why did the Lord do this? What happens to Abram as a result of this passage?
Even though Abram was acting in fear, the Lord continued to provide for him. How have you seen God’s provision and or protection even when you were not totally faithful? Why do you think God still chooses to bless people when they display weak faith? We are told that Abram is an example of faith. How does this passage challenge you or encourage you in your faith?
