ALL IN WEEK 2

Acclimate: to adapt (someone) to a new temperature, altitude, climate, environment, or situation

Oblivious: not aware of or not concerned about what is happening around one.

  1. blend into your surroundings.
  2. melt into the background.

When we become acclimated to our surroundings, we become oblivious to the world around us.

“In the month of Kislev in the twentieth year, while I was in the citadel of Susa, 2 Hanani, one of my brothers, came from Judah with some other men, and I questioned them about the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem. 3 They said to me, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.” 4 When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.” Nehemiah 1:1-4

Why is Nehemiah upset?

HIS CITY IS DEFENSELESS!

HIS HOME IS DISGRACED!

JESUS ALSO WEEPS OVER A CITY!

As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. Luke 19:41-42

The Walls of South Florida are Broken Down

When you look around South Florida, what is not as it should be?

He

When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.” Nehemiah 1:4b

He

May I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests. Nehemiah 2:8

He

“You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. Nehemiah 2:17

If we are going to be used by God to REBUILD THE

we must first realize that there are BROKEN WALLS that need to be
