Who You Listen to Matters
Luke 4:14-30
January 30, 2022
Who will we listen to when we are rejected? Who we listen to the most will shape our identity. With social media, music, television, movies bombarding us, how do we stay focused on hearing God’s voice when we are rejected?
Jesus is the Son of God and yet was rejected.
He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” v.21
Nazareth was resistant to Jesus.
“Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.” v.24
People you are able to influence the least are often those who are familiar with you the most.
Capernaum was responsive to Jesus.
31 Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people. 32 They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had authority. Luke 4:31-32
Be careful not to “write off” certain people who need to know Jesus Christ.
Action Points:
Recognize that sometimes it may not be you that people are rejecting. Recognize the road to your resurrection is sometimes paved with rejection.
Pray for those who reject you that they might receive every blessing you would want in your life.
Rejoice that your name is written in the Book of Life. Luke 10:20
