Christmas in Christ - 12/20/2020

In Christ

28  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. —Matthew 11:28 - 30

8  Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9  And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.
10  Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
11  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14  “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” —Luke 2:8 - 14

Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,”
which is translated, “God with us.” —Matthew 1:23

1. God.

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:6

—Luke 2:8 - 11

1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2  He was in the beginning with God.
3  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
4  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. —John 1:1 - 4

And the Word became flesh … —John 1:14a

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. —Revelation 22:13

2. God With.

… And dwelt among us. —John 1:14b

13  Unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.
14  But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.
15  But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.
16  Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17  Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. —2 Corinthians 3:13 - 18

14  Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15  For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16  Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. —Hebrews 4:14 - 16

3. God With Us.

6 Who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
7  But made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. —Philippians 2:6 - 7

8  Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9  And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. —Luke 2:8 - 9

“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” —Luke 2:14

4. Immanuel, God With Us.

He has anointed Me to preach the
gospel to the poor;” —Luke 4:18

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, —Luke 4:18

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. —Psalm 34:18

And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. —Matthew 1:21

And recovery of sight to the blind, —Luke 4:18

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. —John 1:5

18 To set at liberty those who are oppressed.
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” —Luke 4:18 - 19

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. —Luke 4:18 - 19

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. —2 Corinthians 4:6

Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed, As when at first He lightly esteemed The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, And afterward more heavily oppressed her, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, In Galilee of the Gentiles. —Isaiah 9:1

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. —Luke 2:10
