John 7:1-24

7:1-9 | Jesus’ brothers deomonstrated their unbelief in two ways: (1) by attempting to make Jesus into a traveling roadshow, and (2) by trying to position Him to take Jerusalem by storm. But true believers would have to follow Him as Messiah His way.

7:10-12 | Jesus provokes the same type of controversy today as He did while on earth. But those who really know Him realize: He is good.

7:16-18 | For those who are serious toward God and want to do His will, God will disclose the meaning of His Word concerning the Lord Jesus Christ.

7:19-24 | While the Jewish leaders pretended to be concerned about the law, Jesus stressed that none of them kept the law (James 2:10), for they circumcised on the Sabbath and thought nothing of it, considering it “religious work.” Jesus called them on their hypocrisy regarding His healing of a man on the Sabbath and warned against superficially judging others according to appearance. God’s people must look deeper to the heart.
