Day 58 - We are Loved
Austin Green
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” - John 3:16 NLT
As Christians, we often hear the phrase, “We have to know our identity in Christ.” But what does that truly mean? Let’s break it down! Identity is quite simply who we are, and to be “in Christ” means we are spiritually united with him. Like a limb is to the body, and a branch is to a tree, as believers, we are connected to Jesus through a personal relationship with Him. As a follower of Christ, we are now a part of a family, a Kingdom. As a member of this family, there are incredible benefits. Over the next five days, we will reflect on five truths of our identity in Christ.
The first truth to know about your identity in Christ is that you are loved. You and I are deeply loved by God! This is something so powerful, yet so often, as believers, we forget this fact. Take a moment and reflect today on the truth that the Creator of the universe created you, knows you, and deeply loves you. Because of His love, He sent His Son, Jesus, to this world to be an example of how we are to live and to ultimately give His life for us so we could have a relationship with Him.
Next Steps
- Think about it: Before today, when was the last time you thought about how much God loves you?
Think about it: How does knowing I am loved by God change the way I view myself?
Action Step: Get a pen and piece of paper. Write out John 3:16 and make it personal. Put this piece of paper somewhere you can see it often today.
Example:
For God so loved Austin that He gave His one and only Son, that if he believes in Him, he will not perish but have eternal life.
